Coolest measuring spoons ever!

Let me tell you why these are the best invention ever 1) They are double sided, which of course means you can use them for two different ingredients while working from one recipe. But one side is narrow so they can actually fit INSIDE your spice jar! No more pouring spices into a spoon! 2) The best part, they are magnetic. So they all stay together, you don't have to pull them off a ring, and you're not contaminating 8 spoons to use 1. Genius. You can find these at Crate and Barrel and Bed Bath and Beyond for about 7$, I think Target even carries them.

Buffalo Chicken Dip!
It's the perfect football Sunday appetizer.

This is classic man food, my husband loves it.  It's also a great dip for parties, quick and simple to throw together.  I hate being stuck in the kitchen during get togethers!  Most of my entertaining menus have to involve dishes that I can make a day in advance or things I can mindlessly throw together while I chat with company and down a margarita.  Or three.

What you'll need to make this dip:

4-6 cooked, diced chicken breasts
1 (12 oz) bottle of hot sauce  (We love Frank's)
1 (16 oz) bottle of ranch
2 (8 oz) packages of cream cheese
1 stalk of celery
1 (8 oz) package of shredded cheddar

1) Preheat oven to 350. Mix cooked, diced chicken, celery, and hot sauce in a 9 x 13 oven safe dish.

2) In a large saucepan over medium-heat combine cream cheese and dressing until smooth and hot.  Pour over chicken mixture and stir well.

3) Bake for 20 minutes, sprinkle shredded cheddar on top and bake for another 10 minutes.  Serve with celery if you're eating low carb.  This also goes great with tortilla chips, add cubed bread and eat it like fondue!  Yum!

What's rule # 1 when you visit the Tipsy Hostess?

Respect the naughty yorkies, scroll up and see upper right hand corner.  BTW that goes for IRL too. Yes, occasionally I intend to make you look at adorable pictures of our little babies.  Oh the suffering!

Yorkie on the Run!

Tia is a fast little fatty.  For some reason she runs even faster in the snow.  Normally she runs like a little bear.  Kinda weird.  But it makes us laugh.

Try this tasty appetizer!
I brought this to a Nestie get together, you can do all the work in advance which makes this perfect party food.

Don't you think this is excellent for the holidays?  Check out the festive colors! So pretty!

Here's what you'll need to make your own Marinated Cheese:

1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
1 (2 ounce) bottle diced pimento, drained
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
3 tablespoons minced green onions
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (8 ounce) package Cheddar cheese
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cold

1. In a jar with a tight fitting lid, combine the olive oil, wine vinegar, pimento, parsley, green onion, garlic, sugar, basil, salt and pepper. Shake vigorously to blend. Set aside.

2. Cut the block of Cheddar cheese in half lengthwise. Cut crosswise into 1/4 inch slices to form squares. Repeat with cream cheese. Arrange cheese squares alternately in a shallow baking dish with slices standing on edge. You can arrange in a single long row, or 2 parallel rows depending on the size of your dish. Pour the marinade from the jar over the cheese slices, cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

3. To serve, remove slices to a serving platter so they are still arranged in an alternating pattern. Spoon some of the extra marinade over the cheese, and serve with crackers.

My favorite sugar cookie recipe!
This is great for doing cut out cookies for any occasion.  I've also included my favorite royal icing recipe for frosting cookies below.

Here's what you need:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

1.In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).

2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

3. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
I love this recipe because the frosting dries hard making it so easy to transport in your cookie tins!  It also has a slight glossy sheen which is really pretty.

Here's what you'll need for the icing:

1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
assorted food coloring

1.In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.

2. Divide into separate bowls, and add food colorings to each to desired intensity. Dip cookies, or paint them with a brush. Or finger paint them, whatever :o)

Yorkie Photo Shoot!
Aren't they cute?  See I'm learning a few things from Adam, these pics were all taken by me!

Meet Tia Sophia our tubby little attention whore! She's the baby but she's twice the size of her brother. She wields her giant booty like a weapon, knocking poor Georgie around with her muscle-y rear.

Mugshot worthy?

This is Georgie, but you can call him Boy Genius. He's more camera shy than Tia. He loves hogging mommy and daddy to himself and tattling on his sister when she's up to no good.

He also enjoys eating babies, he's kind of a badass.

A little introduction....

Adam and I moved to North Carolina about 4 years ago, we had a cute house built on a lake. We love spending time together with our cute little yorkies, we love not having kids, yes, we're horrible. We love the holidays and decorating the house for the seasons. Especially Halloween. Haunted houses are mandatory at our home. AND we spend a good chunk of time having drinks on our patio and enjoying our shared love of raunchy humor.

This pic isn't us! On the weekends my husband and I shoot weddings! He's a great photographer and I'm slowly learning from him.

We love to travel! Vegas is a favorite vacation destination and we go to Florida a couple of times a year. We take lots of trips around the Carolinas too, Charleston is always a perfect mini getaway!  I'm sure I'll be blogging about lots of travels and restaurant rec's since we're total foodies and hotel snobs.
